Look after your business! Measure, evaluate, review, and analyze.

If you have read article 6, it referred to a four-stage or four-phase cycle, the third stage or phase of which was control.
It is also helpful to revisit article 17 on a suitable working environment, article 18 on measuring equipment, and article 22 on having a plan for quality production.

A skilled driver checks the temperature, lighting, seat position, and mirrors to establish a suitable working environment. While driving, the driver checks the dashboard indicators, engine sound, any unusual or additional vehicle noise, and whether the vehicle is operating correctly. These actions mean that:
1- Providing and checking the driving environment increases driver and passenger satisfaction, improves the driver's control of the vehicle and awareness of the road, and prevents excessive fatigue and errors caused by driver fatigue.
2- The driver controls the vehicle's speed so that driver and passenger safety are not endangered, traffic rules are not violated, and fines are avoided.
3- The driver monitors engine speed to select the appropriate gear and prevent the engine from running at high revolutions for too long. Driving at high engine revolutions causes engine wear and damage and reduces the life of the engine oil.
4- The driver checks the radiator-water temperature to ensure the engine is being cooled properly and to prevent possible engine failure from overheating.
5- The driver watches the check-engine light and, if it comes on, uses the vehicle manual to understand the problem and takes the vehicle to a repair shop as soon as possible.
6- The driver does not ignore unusual or additional vehicle noises, knowing that a part of the vehicle may have been damaged and that the cause should be identified and corrected before the damage becomes more extensive.

A phrase repeatedly appeared in earlier articles: you must have a plan for this work. In this article, we want to ensure that what we have defined for our products and services is actually being carried out correctly.

That is, if:

A- We have defined particular environmental conditions for production or service, are those conditions in place?
B- Settings or preparation steps have been specified before work begins, have they been followed?
C- Is the activity being performed in the specified sequence?
D- Do the product and service specifications match what was defined beforehand?

How do we do this?
With the measuring tools defined for each subject. Sometimes the measuring tool is the eye: inspection must be performed visually by a person. Sometimes measurement uses an instrument, such as a tape measure, scale, thermometer, and so on.

What should we do after checking?
A- If everything is proceeding according to the plan and definitions, record the results and continue the work.
B- If there is an error, deviation, or discrepancy from the plan and definitions, make the necessary corrections. Otherwise, stop the work until the problem is resolved.
C- All the information described in A and B above must be recorded, collected, and analyzed so that any problem can be identified and prevented from recurring, or improvements can be planned.
