The Business Environment Should Have Suitable Conditions, Including Lighting, Temperature and Freedom from Tension and Stress.
Environmental conditions can be added to article 4 as a fifth factor affecting quality.
Example: in a tailoring and clothing-production workshop, even when the 4 main quality factors are present, meaning people, raw materials, machinery and appropriate designs and methods, inadequate lighting and ventilation can seriously affect people's performance and ultimately product quality.
Beyond lighting and temperature, the social and psychological conditions prevailing in the business environment and the workshop may also affect product quality.
Insufficient pay, extreme fatigue caused by long hours working in several places, inappropriate employer behavior, a tense environment, discrimination or unfair treatment, a lack of job security, psychological and economic insecurity, and so on can each impair people's performance of their job duties and missions. The effect will show up in work quality.
Clearly, some of the matters mentioned above are not within business managers' control or authority. But you must have a plan for those that are within your control and try to reduce the effects of external factors within the business by providing a suitable working environment.
Mistakes and superficial thinking are not acceptable either! Forget about playing at being Google!
Putting ping-pong and billiard tables in the workplace or decorating it stylishly is fine, but not enough if you are not paying employees adequately and on time.
